It's a dry heat...

Too dry... the tree died. The valve and timer required at least 10psi to work properly. Even if it worked right, we were told that the tree would require 2 or 3 times the amount of water we had originally planned for.

On the positive side, we caught 3 small rats in the rat trap. But this was during the dry season and we noticed another one dug a hole out from under the cabin. We tried the bucket trap again, but the rat under the cabin is either not thirsty or too smart.

...or it's a mutant: we set mouse traps and sprinkled D-Con around his hole, but both the cheese bait and the D-Con grains were gone the next morning. And we can hear him sometimes scratching around in the middle of the night.

Meanwhile, while we were planting seedlings, we uprooted the christmas tree and planted a Concolor Fir in its place.
