Bob took advantage of the G.I. Bill and enrolled at Purdue University. He pledged to the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. Bob honed his writing skills by setting up his typewriter at a local pub and writing papers for fellow students who would pay him in beer. | |
Originally, Bob planned on getting into Engineering, like his father, but changed his science major to journalism and added a minor in psychology. He graduated in 1951. Eventually, Bob went back to Akron to work for the B. F. Goodrich Company as assistant editor of their company paper. |
